Year 2

Students must select units worth 50 credits from one of the following three subject pathways in addition to taking SC22002 (Natural Sciences portfolio 2) which is compulsory regardless of which pathway is chosen:

Biology and Pharmacology pathway

  • Compulsory units: SL22051 Central nervous system pharmacology (5 credits), SL22052 Drug discovery and experimental pharmacology (5 credits) and SL22023 Infection and immunity (10 credits);
  • 20 or 30 credits from the lists of Biology options;
  • Students choosing 20 credits of biology options may take 10 credits of Management units.
Biochemistry and Environment pathway
  • Compulsory units: SC22003 Environmental science and sustainability (10 credits), SL22018 Evolution and phylogeny (10 credits), SL22038 Behavioural ecology (5 credits), SL22046 Plant infection and immunity (5 credits), SL22048 Plant signalling and development (5 credits) MN22156 Digital business innovation (5 credits), and MN22171 Marketing (5 credits);
  • Either SL22040 Field course (5 credits) or SL22043 Modern methods in biology (5 credits).
