Loose Women's Katie Piper gives kids new 'sister' in sweet family announcement (2025)

She also apologised to her followers for what will happen next

Katie Piper has shared an adorable family update after sharing that her daughters had been asking her and her husband for a little brother or sister.

The Loose Women star and her husband Richard Sutton share two children- Belle and Penelope. But Katie has now revealed that they have extended their family a little further with the arrival of an adorable puppy.

Taking to Instagram, the presenter, charity founder and campaigner shared a pictures of herself and the new little pup, as well as the moment the family of four picked up their new addition and told her followers: "We have expanded our family… Introducing Sugar.

"The girls have wanted a brother or sister for so long and we wanted to make this happen. Our gorgeous girl came from @battersea Dogs & Cats Home and we are so happy to make our home, her new home.

"Big shout out to the amazing team @battersea for all the incredible work they do rescuing dogs and cats everyday. Now apologies in advance for all the puppy spam that is about to follow over the next few months."

After being flooded with questions, Katie then added in the comments section: "Thanks for all your lovely messages. Lots of you asking the breed, we know the mum was a cockerpoo, the dad is unknown. She is only 12 weeks old. She has a lovely calm temperament and is great with girls, she likes to be held and cuddles. She's teething at the moment so all shoes are off the ground."

This Morning star Kate Lawler was among the first to respond, writing: "Congratulations Katie! Your lives have just become infinitely more full. Thanks for showing everyone you can rescue puppies too." Strictly star Pete Wicks also typed: "Stop it," with a love heart eyes emoji.

Earlier this year, Katie was fitted with an artificial eye, after numerous attempts to save her natural one. She experienced partial sight loss in her left eye following a harrowing acid attack by an ex-boyfriend which led to multiple surgeries in the hope of saving the eye.

Taking to Instagram, she made the announcement that it was time to consider getting a prosthetic eye as she told her fans: "After many years battling with my eye health, I've reached the end of the road somewhat, and the decision has been made to try a prosthetic eye shell."

Katie shared her step towards this new chapter, posting pictures and videos of the process, and expressed gratitude for her medical team's support. Adding to her message, she said: "This marks the start of a journey to have an artificial eye, with an incredible medical team behind me. As always I'm incredibly grateful to all those in the NHS and private health care system for their talent and kindness."

She signed off the post on a note of hope and solicitude for advice from her followers: "I will share my journey, I'm hopeful and nervous about being able tolerate it and would love to hear from any of you in the comments if you've been on this journey or have any advice..."
